Guadalupe - Bethan Laura Wood for Ceramiche Bitossi
Inspired by the iconic language of Bitossi Ceramiche, the designer Bethan Laura Wood designs this vase, taking on the Florentine Rimini Blue collection. The pieces are in terracotta, characterized by a dark green surface and engraving inspired by the Basilica of Mexico City dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, from which he takes his name.
Bethan Laura Wood chose to review the basic technique used in the creations of Aldo Londi, the engraving. She focuses on the surface as a basic element of a piece, initially engraving it and then adding the color that interacts with the sign to create a nearly three-dimensional effect.
The pattern, made up of graphic shapes and fluid lines, is the result of a combination of colored glass windows in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City (hence the name of the collection) and a study of heritage models in the archive .
