Bitossi, from the Salone del Mobile to… Italian Design!

Last April we were at the Salone del Mobile, and we found lots of news and unmissable goodies for you. An example? The new Bitossi collections, brands we have always believed in and that - year after year - conquers us and amazes us. A historic Florentine company that for generations has brought the excellence of ceramic manufacturing to the world, Bitossi presented three new collections designed by Quincoces-Dragò, Michele De Lucchi and Christoph Radl at the 2019 Milan Design Week. Collections that have made us fall in love, literally, with their ability to combine historical heritage and new trends. Collections in full spirit Bitossi, which has always entrusted itself to the big names and - at the same time - believes (strongly) in the contribution of the new signatures of contemporary design. Exactly how the company is, with its look to the future and its roots firmly established in the past.
For his new collection, Quincoces-Dragò decided to pay tribute to the classics of the Bitossi archive, to the works of Ettore Sottsass and Nathalie du Pasquer: it is from there that the designers left for a line - called Colonne - that takes up the traditional totem configuration adapting it in a contemporary key, in an extraordinary balance between classic language and contemporary essentiality. Empty Cages by Michele De Lucchi is instead a triumph of colors and shapes: the glazes are bright and shiny, the contrast between the full and the empty is evident. And the vases have an original rod-shaped shape. Finally, Christopher Radl for his Revolver has studied the stylistic evolution and the emotional language that the Bitossi collections bring with them, reproducing that combination of aesthetics and feeling in a delicate collection. A collection made of orange and ocher, recalling terracotta. And to celebrate the liveliness.
Then we saw the re-editions of Maestro Aldo Londi, from the vases of the Rimini Blu collection to the box-shaped Sweet Box head in white crystalline, from the tabby cat with safari decoration to the small bolo depicting a piglet in precious platinum enamel. Because Bitossi is class, it is history. It is experimentation and fantasy.
