WIGGLE by Max Lamb

WIGGLE by Max Lamb

Max Lamb (born 1980) is a British designer who combines traditional - if not prehistoric - design methods with contemporary design. He is known for employing highly unusual approaches to using natural materials, including pouring pewter onto sand and volcanic rock. With the Wiggle project that he conceived for Bitossi Ceramiche he has developed a new manufacturing technique using an old tool by wire cutting slabs of clay and constructing box-like vessels from the cut slabs. The wiggled wire creates a wave-like surface enriched and underlined by the glazes.

So he has developed a vase starting from a chalk of clay and out of a single 25 kgs. chalk of clay then we get the 3 sizes of square vase. The same system of wiggle wire cutting was used on the 3 hand-thrown vases that were wiggle wire cut during the making, when the vases were still wet and workable.
