Pierre Chareau

Pierre Chareau is one of the most influential figures in interior architecture of the period between the two world wars, and is recognized as one of the leading authors of the modern French movement. Chareau began his career in 1914 as a furniture designer at Waring & Gillow, in 1919 he founded his own furniture atelier in rue Nollet, to which he added in 1924 the creation of the shop "La Boutique" on rue Cherche-Midi. In his most famous project, the "Maison de Verre", designed in Paris for Doctor Dalsace, finds the most characteristic elements of his work: the search for innovative spatial solutions, the study of new materials, the design of furniture able to adapt with variable uses. His appreciation for the figurative avant-gardes pushed him to integrate the works of important artists into his interiors.
