Bauhaus was a school of architecture, art and design in Germany that operated in Weimar from 1919 to 1925, in Dessau from 1925 to 1932 and Berlin from 1932 to 1933. The term Bauhaus was conceived by Walter Gropius, heir of the prewar avant-gardes. It was a school, but it also represented the fundamental reference point for all the innovative movements in the field of design and architecture linked to rationalism and functionalism. The Bauhaus school teachers belonged to different nationalities, they were prominent figures of European culture and the educational experience of the school will profoundly influence the artistic and technical teaching to date.
